UFL Week 5 Predictions | NFL Draft Tidbits (Future UFL Players?)

Week 5 UFL Predictions

4/24 | 8 p.m. | DC at Stallions

The Stallions traded for Dorian Thompson-Robinson this week and Coach AJ McCarron immediately inserted him as the starter. It is a bold move but the 1-3 Stallions need a shake-up. The team looks more apathetic than a settling wife on her wedding night. DC is rolling and has the momentum. Can Birmingham continue the slight trend of Friday night upsets? Probably not.

Prediction: DC 20, Birmingham 13

4/25 | 7 p.m. | St. Louis at Orlando

The Becht Revenge Bowl! The Battlehawks are 2-2, but are in the pole position for the fourth and final playoff spot, especially after the controversial trade that saw Dallas send Luis Perez for a backup offensive lineman. Perez is not starting yet, but if Harrison Frost continues his deep freeze, does the Spring King ride in and save the day? Orlando has fattened up on the league's weak sisters. A win here will convince the skeptics. Becht will get his revenge for the second straight week. The Battlehawks' head will join AJ's on his mantel. Or patio, since he lives in Florida.

Prediction: Orlando 23, St. Louis 16

4/26 | Noon | Columbus at Houston

The Battle of Elite Logos Slapped on Lousy Teams! Columbus upset Dallas last week and now heads to nearly empty Houston, looking for a winning streak. Houston has a chance to save its season but the Gamblers are rolling the dice on the quarterback situation. The Aviators found a running game. Bet on the ground. Man wasn't meant to fly.

Prediction: Columbus 19, Houston 10

4/26 | 3 p.m. | Louisville vs. Dallas

The Kings pulled off their first win last weekend and face the Renegades, who sit at 3-1, after being ambushed and run over by Columbus. Dallas owns the league's best quarterback, but now are praying for his health to remain intact after being told trading Austin Reed away. Chris Redman reshuffled his desk, cutting two offensive lineman and former Kentucky star Benny Snell. The running game has been stagnant. Dallas is weak against the run but a reconstituted attack on short notice is a hard sell.

Prediction: Dallas 24, Louisville 13

The NFL Draft started last night and my Las Vegas Raiders (why, yes, I am Mark Davis) selected Fernando Mendoza. If only, he could play for the Stallions. Maybe they should farm him out for some training?

It will be interesting to see if any former first round picks end up in spring football. My Raiders, generous to a fault and horrible at judging talent or developing it, supplied two cornerbacks in Gareon Conley and Damon "Social Media PR Expert" Arnette for the UFL.

If I had to guess at a future UFL player from this draft: CB Chris Johnson - Miami. Cornerback from a G6 school in the first round going to Miami's inefficient machine could spell trouble.
